WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT TUTORING WITH ME

PARENT

Polly came highly recommended to me via a teacher at my son's school who’s own son was being tutored by her.
I thought this was a great start as if Polly was good enough for someone “in the know”, so to speak, I would be more happy to try her.
When she arrived at our house the first session was all about getting to know my 13 year old lad in some depth which has paid dividends. My son was amazed when his sessions now included mathematical questions based on sims characters and aspects of his drama group and other interests! In fact, he said it didn’t feel at all like school maths!! He didn’t realise he was covering the same work just posed in a language that he found familiar!!
He soon began to look forward to his tutoring with Polly and it was never a chore for him (which as a parent is exactly what you hope for right?)
His results have gone from strength to strength under Polly’s care and I honestly can’t recommend her highly enough!
It’s lovely to hear them laughing and bonding through their sessions and his confidence in maths has sky rocketed especially as Polly has always tried to help more when tests approach and to go through them afterward!
Polly is a talented, caring tutor who’s total focus is your child and I’m so, so grateful for the difference she has made to my son.

In the 2017 Summer holidays, my Mum decided I needed a tutor to help me with my maths. So we went to Polly. I'm still with her now, in July 2018, and I hope to still be with her this time and day next year (and longer!).
I'm really, really, really excited for this Summer as I will be having Polly for English, as I have a real urge to get to those higher sets as all of my best friends are in those high sets.
The first session that Polly and I had was quite nerve-wracking for me as the image I, and other children, get of tutors is that they are really tall, strict and dressed up fancy with one of those brief case things. But she's not scary at all! The first lesson I had was about what I like, and dislike. I said I liked unicorns, Lilo and Stitch and llamas. So what Polly did was use the things I liked in some of the tasks to practise.
Right now, we are doing a house project as when I grow up I want to be an architect, so I have to cost the room sizes, and how much all the furniture would be. She will include whatever you want to do!
She has helped me so much with my maths and how I feel about myself.

Polly has established a fantastic maths learning experience for my daughter who struggled with self confidence. Polly took time to get to know my daughter and built maths lessons around my daughters interests, this has engaged her learning and unbelievably she doesn’t moan at all about her Polly Maths hour every week!
The investment we made has been demonstrated with our daughter's scores in High School. Her understanding & confidence has grown so much, we are also going to incorporate English sessions with Polly to develop that skill as well.
Polly’s knowledge of curriculums, exams & tests has helped my daughter prepare & she has explained processes to us!
Thanks Polly, here’s to another successful year ahead!

Polly has been working with me at my house for the last two years on GCSE English Language, especially with the grammar and spelling, which I find difficult. Polly is always kind, patient and funny and she makes my sessions very enjoyable and fun and I always look forward to her coming round. I think Polly has given me more confidence with English and has also helped me to learn new skills. I think she is a great teacher.
